Cody Ford wins Professional Bull Riders RVT event in Reno

In his 10 th year as a professional bull rider, Cody Ford (Stanfeild, Oregon) earned his first win of the 2017 Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) season, taking the event win in Reno, Nevada, at the Lawlor Events Center Saturday night. Ford was the only rider to cover both of his bulls and won the event after scores of 82.5 and 88.5 on Locomotive Exhaust (Hollister Bucking Bulls) and Uncle Fester (Humpz & Hornz) respectively. With the victory, he earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings and $7,900. Winners of each RVT event in 2017 will be guaranteed at least one opportunity to compete at a PBR Built Ford Tough Series regular-season event. With his victory in Reno, Ford will compete at the St. Louis Invitational in St. Louis, Missouri, Feb. 24-26. Shane Proctor (Grand Coulee, Washington) claimed the victory at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Frontier Communications Showdown, presented by Ariat, in front of a sold-out crowd Saturday night at Honda Center. Proctor rode his way to his first Built Ford Tough Series event win since last season at Iron Cowboy in Arlington, Texas, after a 2-for-3 performance. Proctor rode Flight Plan (Dakota Rodeo / Struve / Berger/ Heald) for 85.75 points in Round 2 before being bucked off by Catfish John (Dakota Rodeo – Chad Berger/ Clay Struve/Miller) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Proctor has surged in the state of California, going 4-for-8 since Sacramento last weekend. Proctor earned 450 world points for the win and moved up to 8 th place in the world standings. The American Semi-Finals Rodeo held in historic Fort Worth Stockyards will kick off a week long celebration of the Western lifestyle that is unlike any other.  Free entertainment for fans of all ages will be available in the Fan Zone prior to the three action-packed rodeo performances which begin at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 – 17. Cody Teel (Kountze, Texas) captured his first Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event victory Saturday night with a total score of 258.5 points inside the Berglund Center. Teel went 3-for-3 and was leading the event after Round 1 on Friday night. He secured the victory with an 85.5-point ride on Slappy (Torres Bucking Bulls) in Round 2, and an 86-point ride on Pitch Black (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in the championship round. Barbosa turned in a 90.25-point ride on Cooper Tires Brown Sugar (Dakota Rodeo-Berber/Struve) to win the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and cap a perfect 4-for-4 performance. The first PBR (Professional Bull Riders) 15/15 Bucking Battle of the 2017 season went to a savvy veteran as 2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) claimed the victory Friday night at   Allstate Arena immediately after Round 1 of the Chicago Invitational.    Lee earned the victory after an 87.75-point ride on Handsome Jeff (K-C/Josie McElroy Bucking Bulls/Spark-lin Acres) and picked up 150 PBR World Standings points for the finish in the special round along with a payout of $8,666.67. Pacheco won his first event of 2017, the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event in Denver at the Western Stock Show on Wednesday night. The 2015 PBR Rookie of the Year, Pacheco is trying to win his first World Championship this season after finishing runner-up in his first two years on American soil. Pacheco (3-for-3) capped off his Velocity Tour victory Wednesday with a 91-point ride on Jack Shot. “I am very happy I had a good draw and good bulls,” Pacheco said with the help of Silvano Alves translating. “I rode all of my bulls here. I have been consistently strong. I bucked off two bulls to start the year, but it is no problem. I fixed the small things. Tuesday night the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event at Denver’s National Western Stock Show featured an international showdown between 2008 World Champion Guilherme Marchi and 2016 PBR Australia Champion Cody Heffernan in a bonus bull match. Heffernan came out on top after an 86-point ride on Freckled Fire . Heffernan had already won night two of the competition (86 points on Rock Bottom), but his second ride on Tuesday made him $5,000 richer. “Yeah, that’s a great Tuesday,” Heffernan said. “That first bull faked left, went right and it did really feel good. Thanks to the $5,955 Kimzey won in the 2017 world standings - which he earned in October and November of 2016 - he surpassed the million-dollar mark in career earnings with $1,003,819. Kimzey became the PRCA's youngest millionaire at 22 years, three months, two weeks old, retroactive to the final day of the 2016 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER, Dec. 10. The previous youngest PRCA millionaire was Tuf Cooper at 23 years, 22 days. "Any time you get to rewrite the record books it's always pretty special," Kimzey said.
