Cody Ford wins Professional Bull Riders RVT event in Reno
In his 10th year as a professional bull rider, Cody Ford
(Stanfeild, Oregon) earned his first win of the 2017 Professional Bull
Riders (PBR) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) season, taking
the event win in Reno, Nevada, at the Lawlor Events Center Saturday
night.
Ford was the only rider to cover both of his bulls and won the event after scores of 82.5 and 88.5 on Locomotive Exhaust (Hollister Bucking Bulls) and Uncle Fester (Humpz & Hornz) respectively. With the victory, he earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings and $7,900.
Winners of each RVT
event in 2017 will be guaranteed at least one opportunity to compete at a
PBR Built Ford Tough Series regular-season event. With his victory in Reno, Ford will compete at the St. Louis Invitational in St. Louis, Missouri, Feb. 24-26.
Koal Livingston (Burleson, Texas) finished in second place after he reached 8 seconds aboard Merlot Man
(Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls) for 86 points to win Round 1. He earned 50
points toward the world standings along with a paycheck of $4,700.
Cody Teel (Kountze, Texas), last weekend’s winner in Roanoke, Virginia, finished third in Reno. Teel rode Glitter (Humpz & Hornz) for 83.5 points in Round 1. For the effort, Teel earned 30 world points and $3,000.
Sonny Schafferius (Dysart, Australia) and Claudio Montanha (Ribeirao Indios, Brazil) tied for fourth place with matching 83-point scores in Round 1. Schafferius rode Furious George (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls) while Montanha conquered Second Hand Smoke (Scott Silveira). The pair earned 17.5 world points each, along with $1,570 paychecks.
Alex Marcilio (Macaubal, Brazil) finished in sixth. Marcilio earned 10 world points along with $560 when he rode Pinky (Circle P Bucking Bulls) for 82 points in Round 1.
Uncle Fester
was the high-marked bull of the event with a score of 44.5 points when
he combined with Ford for the winning ride in the championship round. ~ PBR Media
