Pacheco picks up the 15/15 Bucking Battle win in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fifteen riders went
into the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) 15/15 Bucking Battle at the
Kansas City Invitational, presented by Express Employment Professionals,
but only one emerged from the field when Kaique Pacheco rode his way to
victory Saturday night at Sprint Center.
Pacheco claimed the victory in the special round
after an 86.75-point ride on Moto Moto (Jane Clark/Gene Owen). It was
Pacheco’s first 15/15 Bucking Battle victory of 2017 and his first since
Eugene, Oregon, last season. For his effort, Pacheco took home $21,000
and earned 150 world points to move into 4th place in the world standings, trailing current world leader Jess Lockwood by 932.5 points.
Aside from Pacheco’s ride, the bulls were
dominant in the special round, bucking off the other 14 riders. Pearl
Harbor (Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) highlighted
the bull power, posting a 46.25-point bull score for his 6.67 second
buckoff of Rubens Barbosa.
Earlier in the evening, 2016 PBR World Champion
Cooper Davis claimed the win in Round 1 Saturday night. Davis rode
Bezerk (BMC Bucking Bulls/Jeff Robinson) for 87.75 points to earn $3,580
and 100 points toward the world standings while currently sitting 7th and trailing Lockwood by 1,135 points.
Eduardo Aparecido finished in second place in
Round 1 after an 86.75-point trip aboard Switch Hitter
(Halpain/Martinelli). Aparecido earned 60 points toward the world
standings and $2,750.
Last week’s Anaheim, California, event winner,
Shane Proctor, continued his streak and claimed third place in Round 1.
Proctor rode Red Fury (Broken Arrow Bucking Bulls) for 86.25 points, he
earned 50 world points and a $2,000 paycheck. Proctor has ridden five of
his last 10 bulls faced.
Stetson Lawrence placed fourth in Round 1 after
an 86-point ride on Bad Water (Long Ranch). For his effort, Lawrence
picked up 40 points toward the world standings and $1,300.
Ryan Dirteater rounded out the Top 5 after an
85.5-point ride on Whiskey (David Hale/The Jaynes Gang). Dirteater
collected 30 points toward the world standings and $850. ~ PBR Media
