Cody Teel takes Velocity Tour win in Roanoke
Cody Teel (Kountze,
Texas) captured his first Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Real Time Pain
Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event victory Saturday night with a total
score of 258.5 points inside the Berglund Center.
Teel went 3-for-3 and was leading the event after Round 1 on Friday night. He secured the victory with an 85.5-point ride on Slappy (Torres Bucking Bulls) in Round 2, and an 86-point ride on Pitch Black (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in the championship round.
With
the win, Teel earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings and an
invitation to the Built Ford Tough Series’ Frontier Communications Iron
Cowboy in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 18.
Robson Aragao
(Aracaju, Brazil) also covered all three of his bulls and finished in
second place with 246.5 points. He earned 50 points toward the world
standings. Brennon Eldred (Sulphur, Oklahoma) finished in third place with 173 points, and Tye Chandler (Celina, Texas) and Matt Werries
(Jacksonville, Illinois) tied for fourth place with 169.5 points each.
Eldred earned 30 world points while Chandler and Werries each earned
17.5 points.
Two bulls from Mike Miller Bucking Bulls tied for the high marked scores of the weekend. Pneu Dart’s Captain earned the score in Round 1 with a 2.09 second buckoff of Brandon Davis, while Pneu Dart’s Southern Style bucked off Mitchel Paton in 2.47 seconds in the championship round.
Roanoke was the 10th
event of the 2017 Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour. The Velocity
Tour next heads to Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada, on Feb. 4.
The
2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at
South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s
2017 Built Ford Tough World Finals. ~PBR media
