Athletes advance to the finals at AT&T Stadium

Lives will be changed and champions will be crowned at RFD-TV’s The American Rodeo as the finals return to Arlington, Texas next weekend. The semi-finals at Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas wrapped up.

As the curtain closes on the seventh annual semi-finals, there are countless stories that need to be told and athletes that should be recognized for their accomplishments.
Six athletes in each event advanced to the finals with the exception of 10 barrel racers and 16 breakaway ropers advancing in those two events.

“The semi-finals produced some exciting story lines, and part of our goal was to give the everyday athlete the opportunity to perform on the biggest stage which we have done yet again this year ,” said Amanda Shaffer, director of rodeo marketing for The American Rodeo. “This event is growing our sport tremendously and continues to show that these events impact athletes’ lives inside and outside of the arena.”
In Bareback Riding the scores were consistent all week. Logan Patterson walks away with the average Gist belt buckle riding LITTLE LINDA in the short round for 84.25 points. Landing the last position among bareback riders making their way to AT&T Stadium is Anthony Barrington.
Steer wrestling qualifiers had to run two steers in under 10 seconds to qualify in the top spot. Rowdy Parrot and Bridger Anderson left Cowtown Coliseum tonight ranked first and second in the average.
2018 National Finals Rodeo heeling qualifier Clint Summers from Lake City, Fla. debuted his win as a header for partner Ross Ashford in a quick 4.20 second run, securing his spot in the Team Roping event at the finals. Heeling two feet isn’t always easy, but Logan Medlin qualified not once but twice for AT&T Stadium, forfeiting one spot to partner Charly Crawford and Billy Jack Saebens.
Saddle bronc rider Wyatt Casper is 33 for 33 in the 2020 season and 32 of those 33 rides have been over 80 points. He’s number one in the PRCA world standings and number one moving into The American Rodeo finals as a qualifier.

Breakaway ropers brought the heat, and for the second year in a row we have the same top four  ladies advancing to the $140,000 payout at AT&T Stadium. One of the most decorated ropers among these ladies is Jackie Crawford, who joins team roping husband Charly Crawford, roping her calves in under three seconds. To add to the family affair, Abby Medlin will join brother Logan Medlin inside AT&T Stadium as well. The youngsters came with a vengeance in the final round of the semi-finals for Tie Down Roping. The man on a mission and 2019 NFR qualifier Shad Mayfield leads the pack with a total of 16.16 on two heads. Bringing up the rear and finishing in the sixth position is sixteen-year-old Riley Webb who won the first                                                                                               round of semi-finals with the fastest time                                                                                                                                    of  7.79 seconds.
