GOLD STIRRUP AT RODEO AUSTIN HAS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR
The Gold Stirrup Horse Show at Rodeo Austin,
presented by TIBH Industries, is a show for riders with special needs
across Texas.
Rodeo
Austin introduced the Gold Stirrup Horse Show in 2010. For these
competitors, riding is an important tool in both recreation and
rehabilitation. Riding is also a type of therapy, helping strengthen
muscles, improving both concentration and balance and building
self-confidence.
There
are around 100 Gold Stirrup contestants ranging from elementary school
to high school aged students. Contestants can participate in an array of
events including barrels, trails, western equestrian, English
equestrian and showmanship.
Lindsey
Vickers has been the Chair of the Gold Stirrup show for five years, and
has been a part of the show since its beginning in 2010. “We have two
rules here at the show, safety first, fun second” Vickers said. “Safety
and fun go hand in hand here at the show, and our number one concern is
our contestants” Vickers said. “I love that all of the riders get to be
like anyone else when they ride, it truly is an amazing event to be a
part of” Vickers said.
Vickers
stated that her favorite part of the show was “seeing the smiles on all
of the riders’ faces when they are riding in the arena.” ~ Rodeo Media
