 COLLEGIATE RANCH HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP IN AMARILLO TX

College students from 12 colleges and universities will head to Amarillo, Texas, April 23-24 for their chance to win one of two 20-foot Hughes Horse Trailers at the inaugural National Ranch and Stock Horse Alliance (NRSHA) Collegiate Championship.

Riders will compete in Cow Work, Reining, Ranch Trail and Ranch Riding in a two go-round format to determine the best in the nation on both a team and individual basis. Ranch horse competitions are one of the fastest growing segments of the equine industry, 

and NRSHA is proud to offer the opportunity to showcase collegiate ranch horse teams. 

“After the turbulence of the last year, our team is really looking forward to traveling and sharing in competitive fellowship with other schools. We have eight seniors this year, so the spirit of gratitude and unique perspective of 2020 gave us a special feeling,” says Texas A&M University Instructor and Ranch Horse Coach Paige Linne. “I am incredibly excited for this partnership with NRSHA to get off the ground. I’m excited we have a platform to build on for our collegiate ranch and stock horse community nationwide and continue to offer great opportunities for students to get involved in the industry.”

In addition to Hughes Horse Trailers to the champion Division I and Division II teams, the reserve champion teams will earn Cow-Trac systems for their school, courtesy of Stock Horse of Texas. Skyline Silversmith buckles and jackets from Carter Ranch Horse-Plan 4 Progress are up for grabs to the top individuals, as well as prize packages from Classic Equine and Farnam, along with 2,000 pounds of Total Equine Horse Feed.

A $6,000 scholarship courtesy of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo will be presented to the Outstanding Freshman. The award is based on leadership, dedication and hard work inside and outside the arena.



The event kicks off with a welcome reception for the teams hosted by AQHA at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum. The competition, which is open to the public, will last throughout the day on Friday, April 23, and Saturday, April 24, culminating with an awards dinner on the campus of West Texas A&M University.
