DOCUMENTATION OF 90-DAY ELD WAIVER FOR COMMERCIAL LIVESTOCK HAULERS
While we continue to push the Department of Transportation to provide a longer-term waiver from electronic logging devices for commercial livestock haulers, agricultural haulers are still exempt under the 90-day waiver that began on Dec. 18, 2017. This waiver will be in place for livestock haulers until March 18, 2018.
One of the livestock industry’s overall concerns and arguments for the need to obtain a longer-term waiver is that law enforcement, DOT, and livestock haulers are not on the same page when it comes to current rules and exemptions that exist. Therefore, commercial livestock haulers that are usually required to keep a log are being advised to carry exemption documents in their trucks until the 90-day waiver ends on March 18, 2018. This will ensure that law enforcement have documentation of the waiver even if they are not aware of its existence. ~ TSCRA Media
