Trell Etbauer caps his season with San Bernardino win

Image
* * MEDIA RELEASE  * *   Trell Etbauer talks at a deliberate pace as if he's spinning a yarn from a porch rocking chair. There is humility from the voice of a man who has grown up with rodeo and ranching. His father Robert and uncle Billy are ProRodeo Hall of Fame saddle bronc riders. Etbauer followed that path originally, showing promise, but injuries took him down a different road nearly a decade ago. He is a steer wrestler, and at 37, he aged like Benjamin Button this season. The respected cowboy won the Sheriff's PRCA Rodeo in San Bernardino, Calif., posting a 3.4 second time for $2,400 in prize money. It left him with no regrets, but it stung nonetheless, as Etbauer will likely finish 16th in the PRCA | RAM World Standings, coming  this close  to the first NFR berth of his career. "I guess it was my last rodeo of the year. So, it felt good to go out with a win, to get the job done," Etbauer said. "I guess it's really the first year I was actually going t...

KOLBY WANCHUK PUNCHES NFR TICKET AT THE PENDLETON ROUND-UP

Image
             * * MEDIA RELEASE * * Kolby Wanchuk's ProRodeo.com profile lists his favorite rodeo as the storied Pendleton (Ore.) Round-Up. After spurring Sankey ProRodeo & Phenom Genetics' Black Tie for 90 points during the short round of the 2022 Round-Up to clinch the championship, Wanchuk's profile could add a couple of exclamation points to that statement. "It's a dream to get to compete here," Wanchuk, 26, said. "It's unbelievable to get to win it." Wanchuk's march to the title began with a long round match-up with Brookman Rodeo's Pretty Woman. "I didn't know much at all about that horse," Wanchuk noted. "He came out and acted like he was going to just be good." Photo By: Rod Conner  "Then he hit that grass and really got to bucking. He did some cool stuff," Wanchuk laughed. The Round-Up is famous for being held on a football field, complete with grass and cowboys littering the field to watch th...
