Built Ford Tough Series star Joao Ricardo Vieira wins Velocity Tour Yakima Classic



Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil), currently ranked No. 12 in the world standings, earned the win at the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) Yakima Classic Saturday night at the Yakima Valley SunDome.


Vieira, a current star on the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), won the event after scoring 87 points aboard GOOD RIDE’S IROC (John Peck/Kaplow Insurance/Viducic Bucking Bulls) in Round 1, before riding Bottle Rocket (Corey & Lange/Flying Diamond Rodeo Co.) for 90 points in the championship round.

Vieira earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings, along with $7,000 in his second Velocity Tour appearance of the season.

Vieira will go head-to-head with past RVT event winners Michael Lane and Skeeter Kingsolver at the BFTS’ Last Cowboy Standing at Helldorado Days in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 12-13.

Fraser Babbington (Gisborne, New Zealand) earned himself a second-place finish after covering Short Bus (Corey & Lange/Flying Diamond Rodeo Co.) in Round 1 for 87.5 points and Cow-ah-Bunga (Corey & Lange/Flying Diamond Rodeo Co.) in Round 2 for 81 points. Babbington was the only other rider to go 2-for-2 and will walk away from the weekend with 50 world points and $5,750.

Cody Campbell finished in third place Saturday, pocketing 40 points toward the world standings and $3,300. Campbell won Round 1 on the back of Grave Digger (Viducic Bucking Bulls) with a score of 91 points, but went down in 3.05 seconds courtesy of Machinery Auctioneer's Colonel (Rocking I Rodeo Co) in the championship round.

Brandon Davis came in fourth place after riding Tequilla (Kelley Bowcutt) for 87 points in Round 1, before bucking off Rewind (Corey & Lange/Flying Diamond Rodeo Co.) in the championship round. Davis will be taking home a check for $1,850, and 20 points toward world standings.

Ramon Rodrigues and Justin Lloyd (Tisdale, Canada) tied for fifth, each earning $700 and 12.5 points toward the world s­tandings. Rodrigues rode Snapshot (Kelley Bowcutt) for 86 points in Round 1 before eventually bucking off Crown’s Legend (Corey & Lange/Flying Diamond Rodeo Co.) in the championship round. Lloyd covered Cross Dresser (Rocking I Rodeo Co) for 86 points in Round 1 before being thrown off by Machinery Auctioneer's Little Joe (Rocking I Rodeo Co) in the championship round.

Primetime (Kelley Bowcutt) was named the top bull of the event after earning a 45-point bull score after bucking off Ruger Piva in 7.23 seconds in Round 1.
